ONKOCET Ltd. has exhibited the devices from its portfolio on the MEDTEC UK exhibition in Birmingham, April 2011 through our partner Medical & Partners.
The working program of “SpiroExpert” helps to conduct spirometric measurements not only technically competently, but also it is maximally objective and reliable. The following quality criteria of the respiratory tests are used for this:
Criteria are considered executed (they are noted by sign “+”), if:
Nspiro 2, Npneumo 2,
d VC 0.2L, d FEV1 0.2L, d FVC 0.2L
Vextrap 0.15L or 5%FVC (smaller value is selected)
VlastSm<0.2L
VlastPm<0.2L
In that case spirometric studies can be considered correctly carried out, and their results – reliable.
If the criteria of quality are not executed (they are noted by sign “-”), then the results of the corresponding respiratory test should be accepted critically, up to making of a decision about the repetition of a study. Sign “-” in the graph of Vextrap does not make it possible to consider expiration forced, but attempt - by diagnostically meant. Sign “-” in the graph FVC can appear as a result of the variability of the duration of the forced expiration of patient.
Basic reasons, which lead to the nonfulfillment of the criteria:
· patient does not understand the essence of respiratory maneuvers;
· operator will erroneously give commands to patient;
· the health status of patient doesn´t make it possible to correct it to carry out forced maneuvers;
· patient intentionally distorts his respiratory efforts.
The criteria of quality are calculated by spirometer aically, which frees operator from the routine calculations. In the case of the incorrect actions of operator the program informs the latter about the situation with the aid of the appearing prompt- recommendations. In operation there is always a possibility to ignore warnings of program and to continue work via the pressure of the key [ESC].

Second advantage of the program “SpiroExpert” - mapping the basic parameters FER in the form of the collection of rectangular columns or diagram. The height of each column corresponds to the value of the parameter (in the percentages of proper), and the color of column signals about that, does fall the value of this parameter into the boundaries of standard or not.
The preestablished order of columns in the diagram (to the left they are reflected volumetric indices FER, and to the right - high-speed) helps to visually establish the type of disturbances FER (restrictive/obstructive/mixed). The time of the doctor, who analyzes spirogram, thus is saved.
Analogous approach is used for the visual mapping of changes in the parameters FER, which occurred as a result of certain by action (test). In this case the height of column reflects a difference in the values to until/after of test, and its color speaks about that, is this difference reliable (it exceeds the statistical variability of the parameter) or random (statistically uncertain).
