ONKOCET Ltd. has exhibited the devices from its portfolio on the MEDTEC UK exhibition in Birmingham, April 2011 through our partner Medical & Partners.
(Head – V. P. Lebedev)
The scientific ground of the investigations carried out by the Sector is the experimentally established, previously unknown phenomenon of selectivity of transcranial electroaction on the human and animal brain protective system with its endorphinergic and serotoninergic structures; the phenomenon was recorded as a scientific discovery by the International Association of Authors of Scientific Discoveries at the Russian Federation Academy of Natural Sciences (D N 237, author– V. P. Lebedev, priority–1996). This has made it possible to develop method of transcranial electrostimulation (TES-therapy) allowing the non-invasive activation of activity of brain protective mechanisms, which previously, in American and Japanese studies was achieved only by inserted of electrodes into brain. The TES-therapy reproduces all therapeutic effects of activation of rain protective mechanisms; the effects have a polyfunctional homeostatic direction. These works were started in 1981 and have the world priority.
In the course of development of TES-therapy all experimental-clinical studies substantiating this method and its realizing therapeutic devices are performed with the systematic use of principles of the evidence-based medicine.
The main directions of the clinical use are determined in studies on experimental-pathological models. The TES-therapy has been proved to be based on the following, predominantly endorphin effects: analgesia, normalization of vasomotor disturbances and hormonal state, stimulation of reparative regeneration of damaged tissues of various types and mechanisms of immunity as well as suppression of tumor growth.
In correspondence with experimental data the TES-therapy is widely used in neurology, anesthesiology, reanimatology, treatment of burn lesions, general therapy, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, narcology, dermatology, oncology, and otorhinolaryngology. In all cases the TES-therapy effects have a general character?–?apart from the therapeutic effect on specific pathological manifestations an essential improvement of the total psychophysiological state is observed (improvement of parameters of the « life quality » ). The same is true for the pronounced anti-stress effect of TES-therapy (the released hostages, military people during peace and war time, relatives of dead victims). Manifestation of the systemic character of TES-therapy is realized during elimination of various syndromes connected with deficit of endorphin production in frames of one medical specialty (in narcology??syndromes of abstinence, post-abstinence disturbances, and pathological thrive for alcohol and drugs, in obstetrics and gynecology?–?premenstrual and climacteric syndromes, etc.). TES-therapy is accepted as the main method of treatment of neurosensory hypoacousis that previously had no efficient therapeutic method.
To realize the TES-therapy method, the Sector developed and produces serially TRANSAIR apparatuses (6 models; previously, ETRANS apparatuses (4 models) were also manufactured. The assembly of the currently produced models represents the constructively completed series of goods adapted to various conditions and purposes of use. The total of 6000 apparatuses are made; they are used in medical institutions of more than 290 cities and towns of Russia as well as in a number of cities of the Independent State Union and of foreign countries.
The use of TES-therapy is highly profitable economically–it makes it possible to reduce by 30-40% the total expenditures for medications, to decrease duration of treatment and the period of temporal disability, to decrease twice the number of patients needing inpatient treatment. The equipment of TES-therapy is non-expensive, simple, and safe for use.
The investigations of the Sector demonstrate efficient application of results of research to practical medicine and are awarded the Premium of the Russian Federation Government in the field of science and technology for 2004.
